Corporate
Social
Responsibility

We have been promoting sustainable business for generations. It is inextricably linked to everything we do and stand for. We believe that in this way we will be able to pass on an even better brewery than it already is.

Our 'crown cap'

We influence our environment, our own actions and the actions of our stakeholders.  Based on our stakeholder dialogue and the resulting materiality analysis, we formulated important themes for the future. These themes are evident within the three pillars of our crown cap.

Global growth with local involvement

We want to be a financially sound company that is growing, but has an eye for its environment. We regard local involvement as an important precondition. Within this pillar we pay attention to:

  • Financial stability
  • Customer and consumer experience
  • Innovation
  • Ethics, governance and remuneration
  • Local involvement

In our annual report, feedback can be found about our contribution to the various themes of our 'crown cap'

Good health and well-being for our stakeholders

Good health and safety for consumers and employees is important to us.

This is reflected in the way in which we interact with each other and in the products we bring to the market. We therefore believe that responsible alcohol use is an important theme. Within this pillar we pay attention to:

  • Responsible alcohol use
  • Employment and labour relations
  • Safety and well-being of employees
  • Food safety and quality

In our annual report, feedback can be found about our contribution to the various themes of our 'crown cap'.

Sustainable and circular products and operational management

Circularity means that raw materials are not lost and retain their value. We make our packaging and agricultural raw materials more sustainable and reduce packaging material. We ensure savings and a more sustainable energy and water consumption through more conscious production. Within this pillar we pay attention to:

  • Energy and CO2 emissions
  • Water management
  • Waste
  • Sustainable purchasing

In our annual report, feedback can be found about our contribution to the various themes of our 'crown cap'.

Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations drew up 17 objectives to put an end to, among other things, poverty, inequality and climate change: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Five SDGs share common ground with our core activities. We are going to focus on these in the coming years.

In our annual report, feedback can be found about our contribution to these themes.

Sensible drinking

At Swinkels Family Brewers, we brew our beers with passion and pride. We want our beers to be enjoyed worldwide. As beer brewers and a family-run business, we feel it is our responsibility to contribute to sensible drinking in any way we can. It is not only society that expects us to do so; the future generations of our family of beer brewers also do.

Our projects

Fonds Ereburger Alfred van Roy

(Alfred Van Roy Honorary Citizen Fund)

In 2011, Brewery Palm founded the Fonds Ereburger Alfred Van Roy in honour and in memory of Alfred Van Roy (°1913 - †2009). The fund aims to support youth (and youth work) in Londerzeel and to strengthen the social fabric by creating a development framework for young people.

The brewery attaches great importance to local anchoring and support of social life. Brewery Palm doesn’t want to be just a commercial company, but a company with a heart, where values play a role in addition to profit. The Fonds Ereburger Alfred Van Roy must therefore be seen within this corporate culture. The regulations stipulate that associations who engage with youth work or neighbourhood activities that focus on youth are eligible for the granting of a fund. Palm provides an annual amount of €25,000 for this, which is divided over a maximum of 4 projects. The selection and allocation of the grants are supervised by the Londerzeel municipal authorities.
